Saylani Welfare Trust is perhaps Pakistan’s largest welfare organization dedicated to serving poor by feeding them, clothing them, giving them jobs and by helping them marry their sons and daughters. Every day, around 30,000 empty stomachs are fed by Saylani Welfare Trust in Karachi alone.
BUILDING COMFORTS was awarded this prestigious project in March, 2009. The basic problems were as follows:
Our project revolved around understanding the basic bleeding points in the floor. We came around that problem by using an advanced technology called Injection Grouting. That was done primarily on the floor joints and on two walls which were excessively problematic.
Another issue, while grouting the floor and the joints, was that there was blood within the basement due to goat slaughtering, which had been carried out for last 6 months in the basement.
After grouting was completed basement was left for a week for checking of any leakage points by our experts. This step is necessary before any cementitious coating may be done. It should be remembered that coating is only good for dampness and for leaking one must first inject grouting thoroughly to block all capillaries.
